1 log in violation: no 24 hour off day in 1 month

I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don’t want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with the windows open and wear pink shoes and stay up all night laughing and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets and throw parties and eat ripe tomatoes and read books so good they make me jump up and down.

but, then no.

Hypertensive Moments

1. Can I have the red file (input/output) please? /looks through. Where is the drain chart? (has my reg look through… awkward silence)

Oh we didn’t chart the drain.

Me: ?!?!?!?

2. Can you sign this and change the date for me? We forgot to discontinue the piptazo because we didn’t see the discontinuation signature.

Me: ?!?!?!? Patient has DRESS and you didn’t discontinue piptazo?!?!?!?!

3. Can you transcribe the IMR……. (after transcribing) Doctor can you please make sure you sign??

But I did sign.

Oh yeah, thanks. Sorry doctor.

4. But we are passing report!!!!!!!! (continues on a monotonous tone). I walk away. My reg: Next time just grab the file. (This is the same person who did not chart the drain)

5. Doctor, patient cannot have two IMR, we cannot give medicine!!!!

Me: But the patient has a lot of old meds we must continue. And if i need to prescribe new ones how??

(whispering in the background)

Okay.

also, had a bimbo moment when

i thought my battery was flat, but it was actually the engine coolant system of my car :/ and I didn’t know how to open the bonnet… until today. /pats self.

it is sad but:

today I realized that it is easier to not care so much for one of my patients, that we cannot achieve all our goals for them, that they do not cooperate even though its good for them. and even when you’re coming from a good place, it backfires.

also, another patient: doped up on anti depressants, stopped for a few weeks and now has a fracture. somehow, rolled up in this mess is a daughter that has no idea what’s going on, and is looking to me for support.

discharge planning is THE biggest issue ever.

to practice medicine:

suddenly, in a span of 3 days I’m back from graduation trip, learnt that we’ve passed the final MBBS, and known that we’ve one year of residency to prove ourselves.

suddenly, things become real, the load of responsibilities yours.

1 year of growing up, of practicing, of becoming.

All your questions can be answered, if that is what you want. But once you learn your answers, you can never unlearn them.

10 secrets to a happy relationship/marriage

1. God has you here to serve one another. Love acted out is serving.

2. Women need respect and nurturing. Love your girlfriend/wife so she knows you’d lay your life down for her. Continue to date her and admire her. Share a hobby- find something you can do to have fun together.

3. Laugh often.

4.Be patient. Love crumbles quickly under the weight of unmet expectations.

5. Spend more time trying to fix yourself rather than your other half.

6. Keep short accounts. The Bible says, “Do not let the sun go down while you are angry. Make it a habit to forgive.”

7. Determine up front that divorce is not an option.

8. Learn about love languages. Not all people show love or receive it the same way. Learn them. Love is better received when it’s in the language that the person speaks.

9. Words of affirmation are a love language for all men.

10. Men are born to be leaders. He cannot lead unless she gives him the confidence to do so. If you love your boyfriend/husband, build him up. Confident men do not seek love outside the home.
